Preventative Dentistry in Sydney

At Crows Nest Dentists, oral hygiene is an important part of preventative treatment. We recommend regular check-ups where all aspects of oral hygiene are checked and discussed. This is also the best way to detect problems earlier and treat them before they become too complex; this results in a less expensive treatment plan.

Why Preventative Dentistry is important

One of the areas that is of major concern today is gum disease. Mild gum disease, gingivitis, is seen as red, puffy gums that bleed easily when you brush or floss. In the more severe cases, gums bleed spontaneously. Regular visits to the dentist, professional cleaning, along with correct brushing and flossing techniques can reverse this problem.

Neglecting your dental care can lead to more severe problems. There is a definite link between gum disease and heart disease. Long term neglect for some people can lead to more severe form of gum disease called periodontal disease which affects the bone supporting the teeth, which in some cases can result in tooth loss.

Questions

Do you accept all private health funds?
Crows Nest Dentists accepts all private health funds. We process all of the claims through HICAPS. Please speak to our friendly staff at reception before your appointment to discuss your private health and remember to present your card!
Yes! As well as with x-rays in the dental chair, we also offer on-site OPG dental X-rays, saving you the hassle of having to go to a separate X-ray clinic. These X-rays allow us to diagnose jaw problems immediately, including wisdom teeth problems, reducing the need for a second consult appointment.
Using CEREC technology, we can prepare and manufacture your crowns, caps and even bridges in-house. This saves you the stress of having to return for a second appointment. You also no longer have to worry about temporary crowns ever again.
When we determine that your wisdom teeth need to be removed, an OPG is taken (x-ray that rotates around your face showing all your teeth flattened into one image). This will show the roots of the wisdom teeth and their relation to the lower jaw nerve, allowing the dentist to decide on the best way ahead. Either a referral will be made to a specialist or a simple surgery will be planned here in the chair.
