Sports Dentistry & Mouth Guards
We at Crows Nest Dentists recommend that anyone playing any form of contact sport should wear a mouth guard. We construct a variety of mouth guards depending on the need and level of sport.
Why are sports mouth guards important?
Sports mouth guards are essential for protecting your teeth and gums during physical activity, especially in contact sports. They help prevent serious injuries like broken teeth, cut lips, and even jaw fractures by absorbing and distributing the force of impact. Custom-fitted mouth guards from our clinic offer superior comfort and protection compared to over-the-counter options, ensuring a snug fit that won’t interfere with breathing or speaking. Wearing a mouth guard is an easy way to safeguard your smile and avoid painful, costly dental repairs down the line.

Frequently Asked
Questions
Do you accept all private health funds?
Crows Nest Dentists accepts all private health funds. We process all of the claims through HICAPS. Please speak to our friendly staff at reception before your appointment to discuss your private health and remember to present your card!
Do you perform dental X-rays onsite?
Yes! As well as with x-rays in the dental chair, we also offer on-site OPG dental X-rays, saving you the hassle of having to go to a separate X-ray clinic. These X-rays allow us to diagnose jaw problems immediately, including wisdom teeth problems, reducing the need for a second consult appointment.
What are single visit crowns?
Using CEREC technology, we can prepare and manufacture your crowns, caps and even bridges in-house. This saves you the stress of having to return for a second appointment. You also no longer have to worry about temporary crowns ever again.
Do you perform wisdom tooth extractions?
When we determine that your wisdom teeth need to be removed, an OPG is taken (x-ray that rotates around your face showing all your teeth flattened into one image). This will show the roots of the wisdom teeth and their relation to the lower jaw nerve, allowing the dentist to decide on the best way ahead. Either a referral will be made to a specialist or a simple surgery will be planned here in the chair.
